The Art THat I do

Although I work in many mediums, linocuts are my most recent endeavor. I find the ghost- noir like quality interpretive allowing for the audience to fill in the imaginary voids thus participating in the resolve. The absence of color is important because it brings to mind the “chiaroscuro” images used to describe the old black and white Mexican movies I watched as a boy, a sort of “inspired madness.” This style of Lino is created by “skeletonizing” images into workable pieces to cut.

My credentials

Published artist, poet, writer, musician and silversmith. I’ve spent a lifetime in the creative realm. I have two years of formal training in elements of form and perspective. I was part of the Chicano Arts and Political Movements of the late 60’s and early 70's, i've built custom cars and Motorcycles, have won numerous awards and taught art on occasion. Born in Boyle Heights Los Angles in 1951, I now live in South San Gabriel, California. I’m a family man, retired union construction worker and great grandfather.
